Brilliant! Great! Well Done!
We have much to celebrate. So let's start recognising our milestones and successes below.
Congratulations to Martha, as she travels to the House of Commons on 16/06/2018 to collect her Queens Guide Award.
Dr Gemma Smith
We send warmest congratulations to Dr Gemma Smith, one of our local preachers and a member at Zoar, on her appointment as Head Teacher at Ounsdale High School in Wombourne. Gemma will take up her post in the next few months, in preparation for the new academic year in September.
It's a Girl!
As a church family we send our love and congratulations to Marie & Andy, Janet's daughter and her partner, on the safe arrival of Millie on Easter Sunday. Congratulations to Janet & John, the proud grandparents, and Caroline and Lydia, proud aunties.
Bill Jager - Retirement!
Bill retired on Thursday 29th March 2018.
As a Church family we send Bill our prayers, and wish him much happiness as he starts this new phase of his life. He had a good send off from work, and amongst other things, is looking forward to helping people in Springs Foodbank.
Hazel & Jeremy Evans - Golden Wedding Anniversary!
Hazel & Jeremy were married on 20th March 1968. As a Church family we send our love to you both, as you celebrate this special occasion.
Paul Hodgetts - Aged 50!
Congratulations Paul on passing your half century:
This is also a good opportunity to thank Paul for the huge contribution that he makes to Upper Gornal Methodist Church, and the work of our Lord. Paul is most noticeable for leading worship, and standing in as 'Local Arrangement' on the Circuit Plan. As well as doing both of these with excellence, he also does a lot of unseen work for the Church. So thank you Paul, and we hope your birthday celebrations have been enjoyed by you and your lovely family.
Marion Timmins - Aged 105!
The following is a tribute by Arthur Bennett:
"I first made contact with Marion in the late 50's / early 60's when I was a Police Officer at Bilston. If I remember rightly, I attended the what was then called the 'Labour Exchange' in Bilston. There was some sort of problem there, and Marion was the Manager. The next time I saw her was when her daughter brought her to Upper Gornal Methodist Church in the early 90's. She recognised me straight away. She is a very intelligent lady, but does not give much information about herself. When she was 100 years old she fell and broke her hip. This was replaced and she recovered well. I think she was about 102 years old when she broke a bone in one of her arms. Again she recovered well. She lives in Kingswinford with her daughter and son-in-law. She was 105 years old last November, and as you can see from her photograph, she is still a good looking woman."
The 60 club!
The year 2017 represented a significant landmark for two great members of our congregation:
Congratulations to Jackie Astbury and Paul Raybould
And let's take this opportunity to thank them for all of the work they do for our Church, as well as other areas of life in which they serve God.
The 80 club!
In 2017 we have also celebrated the 80th birthdays of three fantastic people:
Congratulations to Bryan & Stella Richens and Glennis Pittaway
All three of them have been worshipping and working hard in our Church since it came into being nearly 50 years ago. They are still active members of the Church, and quietly go about serving the Lord week-in week-out. We are very grateful for all they do.
Congratulations also to Susie Wilson & Josh Raybould, who recently announced their engagement.
We wish Susie & Josh every happiness as they make their wedding plans.
