Tony & Jane Harris

Congratulations to Tony & Jane Harris, who have this week celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary. A note from their daughters is: “We would like to wish these pair a very happy 35th wedding anniversary! What an exciting and amazing 35 years they have had! Amazing role models, parents and grandparents! With love from your girls". As a Church we hope that you have enjoyed your family celebration in France.

Jonathan & Judith Jones

Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to Jonathan & Judith, who got married on 20th August 1988. Their sons Matt and Luke wrote the following: "Happy Anniversary to our wonderful Mum & Dad. We are so grateful for the parents we have been blessed with. They’ve both remained so strong for us over the years, and have both been the rocks and blankets that ease us through the challenges we’ve faced. We’ve brought our own bits of trouble and haven’t always been perfect, that’s part of our charm, right? (winky face!). But we know that we couldn’t have been much better placed within a family unit than where we have been. We thank them for their patience, guidance and no nonsense. They’re our best friends and we hope to make them endlessly proud, and increasingly less anxious (another winky face!). Thank you for putting-up with each other for long enough for us to write this. We hope that we’ll be writing another in a decade or so! Peace & Love, Matt & Luke Jones"

A Level Exam success

Huge congratulations go to Amy Phillips, Lynne's daughter. Amy achieved ABB in her A Levels, and will be going to Loughborough University in September 2018 to study for a degree in Industrial Design & Technology. Well done Amy! We hope you enjoy the rest of the summer, and have a great time at that fantastic university in Leicestershire. (from Kate Hodgetts / Linda & Barry Hodgetts)

Jacob Slater

Congratulations to Jacob for being awarded '2017/18 Goalkeeper of the Year' (Senior Section). But this Dudley G.D.S. Award is even better, as Jacob won it despite competition from boys much older than himself. We are really pleased for you Jacob.

Paul Hodgetts - Aged 50!

Congratulations Paul on passing your half century:
Our Messages Congratulations Pauls 50thA

This is also a good opportunity to thank Paul for the huge contribution that he makes to Upper Gornal Methodist Church, and the work of our Lord. Paul is most noticeable for leading worship, and standing in as 'Local Arrangement' on the Circuit Plan. As well as doing both of these with excellence, he also does a lot of unseen work for the Church. So thank you Paul, and we hope your birthday celebrations have been enjoyed by you and your lovely family.

Marion Timmins - Aged 105!

The following is a tribute by Arthur Bennett:

Our Messages Congratulation Marion Timmins cr

"I first made contact with Marion in the late 50's / early 60's when I was a Police Officer at Bilston. If I remember rightly, I attended the what was then called the 'Labour Exchange' in Bilston. There was some sort of problem there, and Marion was the Manager. The next time I saw her was when her daughter brought her to Upper Gornal Methodist Church in the early 90's. She recognised me straight away. She is a very intelligent lady, but does not give much information about herself. When she was 100 years old she fell and broke her hip. This was replaced and she recovered well. I think she was about 102 years old when she broke a bone in one of her arms. Again she recovered well. She lives in Kingswinford with her daughter and son-in-law. She was 105 years old last November, and as you can see from her photograph, she is still a good looking woman."

The 60 club!

The year 2017 represented a significant landmark for two great members of our congregation:

Our Messages Congratulations Jackie Paul 60th

Congratulations to Jackie Astbury and Paul Raybould

And let's take this opportunity to thank them for all of the work they do for our Church, as well as other areas of life in which they serve God.

The 80 club!

In 2017 we have also celebrated the 80th birthdays of three fantastic people:

Our Messages Congrats 80s

Congratulations to Bryan & Stella Richens and Glennis Pittaway

All three of them have been worshipping and working hard in our Church since it came into being nearly 50 years ago. They are still active members of the Church, and quietly go about serving the Lord week-in week-out. We are very grateful for all they do.
